WASHINGTON – Today, Ambassador Jamieson Greer issued the following statement regarding retaliatory tariffs issued by the European Union against the United States:
“For many years, the European Union has opposed repeated efforts by the United States. The EU has rejected attempts under the US administration to effectively cooperate in addressing the global overcapacity of steel, aluminum and other sectors.
If the EU acted swiftly to deal with global overpower to punish the United States, today would be in a different situation. The EU punitive litigation is another indicator that completely ignores US national security orders and indeed international security, indicating that EU trade and economic policies are no longer a step away from reality.
