One day, Abu Mohammad al-Julani was an al Qaeda-linked terrorist with a $10M bounty on his head from the U.S. State Department. The next day, it was dropped.
How did he turn from terrorist to statesman in the good graces of the U.S.? He took over Syria, and he put on a suit.
In one of the last acts of the Biden presidency, his status was changed. Ever believers in the essential goodness of the human heart, liberal politicians and diplomats said he had “evolved” beyond his origins with al Qaeda.
They were crossing their fingers and believing naively that his initial conciliatory speeches augured peace and harmony for Syria.
Al-Julani (his nom de guerre) seized control of Syria in a blitzkrieg attack that deposed Bashar al-Assad, the Russian-backed dictator who killed 500,000 of his countryman in a long, desperate clutch on power. (Apparently, there are no good guys in the region.)
After being weakened by attacks from Israel against Hezbollah in Syria, Bashar “The Butcher” lost power when al-Julian (whose real name is Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa) stormed the country and in 11 days claimed the reins.
He’s promised unity and tolerance for religious minorities: Christians, Druze, Kurds, Alawites.
Former CIA targeter Sarah Adams is not optimistic.
According to Intel she was privy to, the planning for the blitzkrieg started in November 2021 when al-Julani and Benghazi planner Abdul Azim Ali “Musa” Ben Ali plotted to replicate in Syria what happened in Afghanistan with the help of al-Qaeda and the Taliban.
Al-Julani met in Afghanistan with Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani and Defense Minister Mullah Yaqoob, who conceded space in the Nangarhar Province to run training camps. Later, Hamza bin Laden, Osama’s son and idealogue heir, gave 10,000 al-Qaeda fighters so that al-Julani would have enough for the blitzkrieg, Sarah says.
“If we’re not honest about how Julani took Syria, then we’re not going to be able to understand what’s going on,” Sarah says on a Shawn Ryan show. “Julani plans to ethnically cleanse the Christians, the Alawites, the Kurds, etc because that is the plan is, to bring in the Islamic caliphate just like the Taliban has been ethnically cleansing Afghanistan.”
How many Christians have been killed so far in Syria under al-Julani? Numbers are very hard to come by, Sarah says.
So if al-Julani was a jihadist, if he came to power with the planning and help of the Taliban and al-Qaeda, why are the globalist elites so optimistic?
That suit. He ditched his Arab clothes and donned a Western suit. That was enough for Biden to be convinced he’s not a bad boy anymore.
Or maybe he was wearing to suit to appease Westerners while he consolidates power in Syria.
