Hungary is withdrawing from the International Criminal Court and receiving Israeli Prime Ministers Benjamin Netanyahu in a show of protest of the blatant politicalization of the institution that was intended to keep nations in line.
“The ICC became a kangaroo court and the biggest purveyor of anti-semiteism in the world,” observed Yechiel Leiter, ambassador to the U.S., on CBN. “It’s imperative for all people bearing a good conscience to pull out of the ICC.”
Hungary is being governed by conservatives who are trying to stem the tide of Islamic immigration that brings Middle Eastern radicalism to the peace-loving democratic countries of Europe. Attacks with knifes and bombs are regular features now in the UK, France and Germany.
The United States never joined nor submitted to the ICC, founded in 2002, because then-president George Bush worried that American soldiers could be tried internationally for actions in the War against Terror. No subsequent president (Clinton, Obama, Biden) reversed that decision.
Meanwhile, England has pledged to arrest Netanyahu if he lands there.
The ICC, based in The Hague, condemned both Hamas for its Oct. 7 attack and Israel for its military response, its efforts to free all Israeli hostages who are still being held a year-and-a-half later.
Hungary’s Prime Minister Victor Orban said, “This is no longer an impartial court, a rule-of-law court, but rather a political court. This has become the clearest in light of its decisions on Israel.”
Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar thanked Orban on X for his “clear and strong moral stance alongside Israel.”
“The so-called International Criminal Court lost its moral authority after trampling the fundamental principles of international law in its zest for harming Israel’s right to self-defense,” Sa’ar said.
