Cinema Tech developers revealed on Cinemacon Cinema Tech developers will learn at least 12025 movies for the newly launched HDR by Barco Laser projector. It includes Universal’s “How to Train Your Dragon,” which opened on June 13th and was given a passionate reception when it premiered at the Theatre Owner’s Confab on Wednesday.
In addition to dragons, Universal is leading dinosaurs to format. “Rebirth of Jurassic World,” which will open on July 2nd, will also receive HDR due to the Barco release. The franchise’s next film stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali.

This week, Barco revealed that Sony’s “Karate Kid: Legend” and “28 Years Later” have HDR with the Barco release. The original Karate Kid starring Ralph Macchio, Ben Wang and legendary Jackie Chan will be in theaters on May 30th, with Danny Boyle’s zombie thriller 28 years later arriving on June 20th.
Already this year, Paramount’s “Novocaine” and Amazon MGM Studios’ “A Working Man” have been released in HDR format for supported theatres. Legendary, Warner Bros. and Microsoft will make their debut in supported theatres on April 4th, and the game-to-film adaptation “A Minecraft Movie,” which arrived on April 18th by Michael B. Jordan, a “thinner” saved by Warners’ Ryan Coogler, will make their debut in supported theatres.
Previously announced titles include Barco By Barco HDR this month. It also includes “War,” written and directed by Iraq War veteran Reymendoza, and A24’s “Civil War” helmer Alex Garland (April 11). “The Accountant 2” is a Ben Affleck-Starring thriller from Amazon MGM (April 25th).
Also at Cinemacon, Barco has unwrapped the new MFusion ICMP-XS integrated audio and media servers and smart amplifiers.
