After winning the Canadian men’s curling title, Jacobs, the newly created Briar Champion team, ranked second in the world rankings.
The Alberta-based club scored three points in the 10th end, beating Manitoba’s team dancetone 5-3 in the final in Kelowna, Beristol, on Sunday.
This was Skip Blood Jacobs’ second career briar title. The team represented Canada in the home ice for the World Men’s Curling Championship at Sask’s Moose Jaw from March 29th to April 6th.
Dunstone also climbed one place to sit second only after the top-ranked team Mouat.
The Carruthers, a Manitoba team, have returned to the top 20 in the world rankings. The Carruthers, previously 27th, have soared seven spots after finishing fourth with Brier.
Tuesday marked the qualifying cut-off date for the AMJ Players Championship, which will be held April 8-13 at Toronto’s Matami Athletic Centre.
Only the top 12 teams are guaranteed only to invite Carlslam, the fifth and final Grand Slam of the season, leaving Team Edin, No. 13, on the outside. The Swedish team has been a staple of players’ championships since 2010, reaching the men’s final four times in 2017, winning the title.
Edin, who reached two quarterfinals in the curling grand slam this season, is 3.6 points behind No. 12 Team Dropkin.
In the women’s category, Korean team Kim ranked fifth in the world after winning the Gangneung Invitational title last weekend.
Kim beat Japanese team Yoshimura 7-4 in the final and is currently 6.2 points ahead of Einerson in the rankings.
The runner-up result helped Yoshimura move two spots to No. 8.
Team Lana has arrived in the quarterfinals of Gannun as the Swedish club jumped over the team two weeks before the team 12 weeks ago, and took a 7.4-point lead over the now-Alberta-based crew.
Wrana has built a women’s final for the athletes’ championships in each of the last two seasons, winning the title in 2023 and finishing second place last year.
